Classes & Ascension
July 2026 Classes update for Clean The Library. All six professions, Ascend Token costs, spell multipliers, and tier list for speed clears.
How the Class System Works
The July 4, 2026 Classes update added a profession system unlocked with Ascend Tokens earned from Grand Library clears. Switch classes through the Ascension interface in the lobby. Each class multiplies spell stats (Magnet, Scan, Glow, Organize in community guides—mapping to Assemble, Insight, Shelf Guide, Sort, and Auto-Shelving on this wiki) and some roles add carry, speed, or jump bonuses.
Everyone starts as Apprentice with a small +1 carry boost. Grand Library clears on Easy, Normal, or Pro difficulty award 2, 4, or 6 Ascend Tokens respectively per community verification—farm tokens before chasing expensive classes.
Classes stack with keys and gamepasses but do not replace learning section codes. A Grand Librarian with wrong 2C versus 2K placement still loses time—pair class bonuses with shelf sections reference and color sorting strategy.
Class Tier List (July 2026)
S Tier — Grand Librarian (100 tokens): ×1.5 Magnet, Scan, Glow, Organize; ×1.5 Jump and Speed. Best all-around for speed clears and spell-heavy routes.
S Tier — Sage (12 tokens): Same spell multipliers as Grand Librarian minus movement bonuses—best value per token for mid-game players.
A Tier — Enchanter (5 tokens): ×1.25 Glow, ×2 Scan, ×1.2 Magnet. Strong early spell boosts when learning Grand sections.
A Tier — Athlete (3 tokens): +2 Carry, ×2 Speed, ×2 Jump. Best movement kit before spells unlock; ideal co-op courier role.
B Tier — Librarian (1 token): +2 Carry, ×1.2 Speed, ×1.2 Scan. Cheap first upgrade after one Easy Grand clear.
C Tier — Apprentice (starter): +1 Carry only. Default until you spend tokens.
Recommended Progression Path
Beginners: finish one Easy Grand Library clear for 2 tokens, unlock Librarian for carry and scan boost, then save toward Athlete (3 tokens) if you play co-op courier routes. Movement bonuses help before Sort and Assemble unlock on early rows.
Mid-game: aim for Sage at 12 tokens—spell multipliers rival Grand Librarian without the 100-token grind. Enchanter at 5 tokens is a budget spell boost if you prefer Glow-heavy auditing.
Endgame speed runners: grind Grand Librarian at 100 tokens after mastering speed run route and speed run build. Pro Mode Grand clears pay 6 tokens per run—see Grand Library guide for difficulty details.
